A “Water Walk”

A “Water Walk” is a new format and style of engaging people with water and nature.

The methodology was first launched at World Water Day 2026 in Glasgow, with a “Strathclyde Water Walk” where participants referenced the map print-out during a guided walking tour, to experience the different – and often surprising – ways that water made its presence known in the area.

The team, led by Dr James Bonner, is hoping to design further Water Walks for different locations, and support any teams or organisations who feel their community would benefit from a Water Walk in their own local place.

This might be especially valuable for community groups looking for a visualisation of flooding risks, catchment areas, etc.
